Choosing to Love Yourself First

I believe in you, and I want you to believe in yourself. There is nothing as powerful as choosing to see and love yourself the way God does. If you feel stuck right now within any facet of your life, I want you to ask, “am I taking care of myself to the best of my ability?”

When we get knocked off course (for whatever reasons), we tend to start operating on autopilot. When our awareness fades, routine starts to slip, and we lead with less intentionality. I have found that this is usually because we simply get overwhelmed by distractions. Instead of taking the time to stop, reflect, and reroute; we revert to the thinking and behaving patterns that are most familiar because they take the least amount of cognitive and physical energy- (hey, that’s actually a good thing, it’s a physiological response designed to conserve energy).

However, we have to train our consciousness to decipher what and where to stay focused so we don’t slip back into a cycle of self-sabotage. Simply put, when we aren’t consciously practicing mindfulness and self-care, we aren’t going to feel like “us”. When we aren’t operating from 100%, we start to lose our traction, self esteem dips, we question our confidence etc.

If this is really resonating with you, have hope that MUCH of what you are feeling or experiencing right now is your soul prompting you to reprioritize yourself. Also, please understand that you may have to start stepping in faith before you start to see or feel differently. That was REALLY hard for me when I started my journey- it wasn’t motivating to wake up feeling the weight of my reality paired with seeing a person in the mirror I didn’t recognize. But staying in bed, wallowing in self-pity and ruminating about how “hard” everything felt was NOT going to yield different results. I had to accept where I was in that moment, and choose to love myself enough to overcome the mental resistance. I had to accept that no, all would not feel easy at first, but with time and consistency it WOULD, and it DID.

Ask God to help you accept and love yourself the way He does in this moment.
Ask Him to give you a spirit of self-compassion, grace, and patience.
Finally, ask Him to reveal one step you can take today to get back into your self-care routine.

Sending you all the love,
Mama K
