12 Healthy Habits For Naturally Glowing Skin

Throughout my twenties, I struggled with acne, dark under eye circles, puffiness and a range of skin issues. All I wanted was naturally glowing skin like all the models on Instagram, but had no idea how to achieve it.

Over the past few years I’ve overhauled my skincare routine and worked towards improving my skin from the inside out.

I wanted to share a few of my glowing skin secrets that have dramatically improved my complexion. I tried to pick two or three but in reality, the ‘secret’ to healthy, radiant skin is following healthy skin habits consistently – and being patient!

Motivated Morning

12 Healthy Habits For Naturally Glowing Skin

Cut out refined sugars

Too much added sugars can cause the skin to stiffen and lose elasticity.

Wash face twice daily

To some it might seem excessive, but I saw a big difference in my skin by washing it morning and night. This doesn’t mean going to town on the exfoliator twice a day! But a gentle wash in the morning can help remove any dirt and excess oil that’s built up overnight. Check out my favorite skincare products here.

Remove makeup before bed

An oldie but a goodie. The skin repairs itself overnight so do you face a favor and remove makeup before bed to prevent clogged pores, eye irritation and dullness.

Stay hydrated

A no-brainer but one we need reminding of from time to time. Drinking enough water is one of the easy and cheapest ways to flush out toxins, increase your energy and keep your digestion on point! Keep a reusable bottle with you at all times so you’re never without your H2O.

Go makeup free at least 3 times a week

Give your skin a break and let it breathe throughout the day. You’ll also save time in your morning routine – double win!

Remove dairy products from your diet

Whey protein found in dairy products can cause serious inflammation and the mucus-forming properties of dairy wreak havoc on the liver.  I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin after cutting out dairy.

Clean your face after sweating

I’ll be the first to say I should have followed this one sooner! Try and wash your face as soon as you can after your workout so you don’t have a cocktail of dirt, bodily fluids and oil clogging up your pores all day.

Use vitamin C serum

Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and discoloration. It’s a regular feature in my daily skin care routine. Check out my favorite brand here.

Change pillowcases weekly

Your pillowcase builds up oils, dirt, and sweat from daily use, meaning it can bread bacteria and cause allergies (yuck). Imagine laying your face down on all of that for weeks at a time?!

Audit your products for harsh ingredients

Prioritize makeup and skincare products made from natural, non-synthetic ingredients.

Abstain from alcohol

This was a biggie for me. Alcohol is super dehydrating and left my skin looking puffy and blotchy – not to mention the under-eye circles.  Once I gave booze the flick, I noticed huge improvements in my skin’s complexion, texture and glow.

Drink 16oz of celery juice every morning

This is a game-changer! I have been drinking 16oz of celery juice every morning on an empty stomach ever since Medical Medium introduced me to this magic elixir. Read more about this miracle drink in my favorite Medical Medium books.

I challenge you to a 30-day skin “glow up”! Aim to incorporate as many of these healthy skin habits into your daily routine for a month and watch how much your skin improves.
